A Month Full of Joy, Creativity, and Community at Redlands House
As we look back on January care home activities in 2026, we’re filled with warmth and gratitude for the incredible month we’ve shared together. Our home has been buzzing with energy, laughter, and meaningful moments that truly showcase the spirit of Redlands House.
Connections and Kindness
This month, we continued our wonderful partnership with Friend in Deed, welcoming young visitors who bring such joy and intergenerational connection to our home. Over 70 children have now participated in our Community Kindness Award, spending time talking, playing games, and creating memories with our residents. A special highlight was the visit from two remarkable young girls, Tilly and Sienna, who touched our hearts by bringing personalised Christmas gifts for each resident – a moment that brought tears of joy to many eyes.
Creativity and Fun Activities
Our activity team has been nothing short of amazing, ensuring each day is filled with engaging and personalised experiences. From arts and crafts sessions where residents decorated thank you cards and made bird feeders, to exciting activities like Nerf gun games and cake decorating, there’s never a dull moment at Redlands.
Some of our most memorable moments included:
- An Elvis-themed morning of singing and dancing
- A breakfast club featuring delicious croissants, pastries, and cheeses
- Pampering sessions with manicures and face masks
- Cultural celebrations like Australia Day and Burns Night
Reminiscence and Personal Connections
We’ve continued our commitment to personalised care, offering one-to-one activities and small group sessions. Our local library’s reminiscence boxes have been a particular joy, allowing residents to share stories about past holidays and travel adventures. We’ve learned fascinating life stories – like George’s tales of his time in the Navy – proving that every resident has a rich history to share.
Culinary Delights
Our chefs have been working magic in the kitchen, not just preparing meals but creating experiences. Residents have been involved in food preparation, from peeling vegetables for homemade soup to making rice crispy cakes and scones. The tea trolley’s homemade snacks have been a particular hit!
Looking Ahead
We’re excited about our residents’ wishes for 2026 and are actively working to make their dreams come true. Our upcoming relatives meeting on February 28th will be a perfect opportunity to discuss these plans and continue building our Redlands community.
Special Moments
Who could forget the adorable visit from Sausage the dog, spreading cuddles and smiles? Or the Valentine’s preparations, with residents crafting bunting and creating raffle baskets?
As we move forward, we remain committed to creating a home that’s full of life, love, and endless possibilities.
Here’s to another month of making memories at Redlands House!
